On October 8, 2021, the White House issued a proclamation on Indigenous Peoples' Day, to be observed on the second Monday in October. The beginning of the Proclamation reads

"Since time immemorial, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians have built vibrant and diverse cultures — safeguarding land, language, spirit, knowledge, and tradition across the generations.  On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, our Nation celebrates the invaluable contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples, recognizes their inherent sovereignty, and commits to honoring the Federal Government’s trust and treaty obligations to Tribal Nations."

Please take a moment to read the entire Proclamation, which you can access through this link: Indigenous Day Proclamation

Ballot Proposition Presentations

If your group, club, organization, or community would like a presentation on the propositions that will appear on the November ballot, please send an email to Teresa Jenkins at programs@lwvtucson.com and include the date, time and location of your event. The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson will provide a balanced explanation based on research on the supporting and opposing arguments for each initiative.

DRIVERS NEEDED
For a neighborhood canvassing effort to walk low-turnout precincts on Sunday, October 20,  1:00 -3:00.
Meet at 12:30 to organize
We are looking for drivers to ferry walkers around in the neighborhoods.
Meet at Mission Manor Park off South 12th at 1pm near Ramada #5 by the parking lot off of 12th Ave where we’ll gather and form teams.
Each team (1 driver with 2 walkers) will be given a neighborhood map and voting literature to drop a home, block by block.
While we won't knock on doors,
we will hang bags with the Propositions Pamphlet, election calendar and voting center locations. This will provide people
with the important information they need to make decisions and know when and where to vote.

We are recruiting young voters to do the walking!
