Gun Violence Prevention

The LWVGT Gun Violence Prevention Committee initiates listening sessions with local lawmakers, law enforcement, and members of community groups impacted by gun violence to expand our knowledge and explore ways that the League can make a difference in enhancing the safety of our community. While the focus is on Pima County, members also advocate individually for gun safety legislation at the state level.

Environmental Issues

The Environmental Issues Committee identifies environmental issues of concern to League members and the greater Tucson region, and undertakes programming to educate League members and the public about ways to address those issues. Issues include climate change, water management, and local sustainability issues. The Committee learns from local leaders and then shares information through newsletters, open meetings, and Public Programs.

LWVGT Public Policy Positions (PPP) survey and updates

The PPP subcommittee reviews and updates League Positions annually. League Positions are statements about public policies that the League is advocating for or against, which are drafted after extensive study of the issue.
