LWVGT Board Positions
While every volunteer in an organization such as the League is important, being a board member--especially a board officer--is critical to the success of the organization. The Board of Directors is the backbone of our League.
The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson’s Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers for board positions. We are especially looking for qualified individuals for the positions of President-Elect, Treasurer, Membership, and more, for a 1-year term beginning July 2025. Board members:
- Help set direction for the League
- Use their skills to ensure proper accounting and support League activities in our community
- Represent our League on a local, state and even national level
It's also a great opportunity to develop new skills and leadership and management.
If you or someone you know in LWVGT likes working with a team of lively and committed colleagues and wants to make a contribution to an organization with broad impact in Tucson and beyond, come join us!
Please contact the Nominations Committee Chair, April Lewis, april.lewis.655@gmail.com, for more information. | | Can you think of a League member who deserves special recognition?
Here is your chance to make that happen!
LWVGT honors a League member who, during the course of the League's year, stood out among LWVGT volunteers in her/his contributions to the work of the League. The award is given at the Annual Meeting. Details regarding the award are available at LWVGT Awards. Nominations for the Leaguer of the Year may be made by emailing membership@lwvtucson.com by February 10, 2025. | Is your LWV Profile Up-to-Date?
Beginning February 1, 2025
LWV Membership Management will completely change!
All LWV members' dues will be paid directly to LWVUS who will then send payment to the state and local league of each member. To prepare for this change, your LWV member's profile must be current. The LWVGT Technology Committee is offering an opportunity to review your profile for accuracy: a great chance to be guided through this process.

| | And speaking of changes, the new Website Task Force is going to redesign our League website. If you want to be part of that project, join the Task Force!
We are redesigning and updating the homepages on the website for both the Public and for Members. Part of this is the result of ChapterSpot, which is the new way to join or renew your membership at the national level (see above). It's the perfect opportunity to make the website more inviting and easier to use. All of these changes will be made by the Website Task Force, which will meet several times in January and February. We are planning to complete the changes by March 1, 2025. If you are interested in joining the Website Task Force, please volunteer on the website. You can also contact web@lwvtucson.com with any questions.

The book addresses the impacts of climate change – drought, flooding, heat, and disease – on people’s livelihoods. Vince argues that, as a result of climate change, which will render parts of the populated earth uninhabitable, we will see massive migrations of people. This wave of immigrants, moving to new cities in more moderate climates, will be a social, economic and psychological stressor that, if not planned for, could be destabilizing to global political systems. | Swap Details to follow...mark your calendars! | |
