LWVGT Hero

Our League Heroes

What makes a LWVGT Hero? Someone who goes above and beyond all the time for our League. Because their work is often behind the scenes, we don’t always know what our League Heroes do.  TWGT will feature one of these outstanding individuals to give you a snapshot of their important contributions.

May LWVGT Hero

Emily Ricketts

Emily Rickets, our LWVGT bundle of energy, celebrates her 90th Birthday today, Monday, May 12.  Emily joined LWVGT in 2018 providing guidance to the newly formed DEI Committee. Since then she has been active with many LWVGT Committees.  Most recently she has been a Library Liaison and a real champion for materials in Spanish.  To honor her birthday members of DEI have provided 400 copies of the US Constitution in Spanish for distribution throughout Greater Tucson.

Happy Birthday, Emily!

Public Programs White Evangelical Voters Impact on Public Policy

The Public Programs Committee creates programs on local, state and national issues that LWVGT members choose each year. These programs don't focus on elections, but are chosen for their importance to our understanding of our democracy.

In November 2024, we asked all members
what programs they would like to have presented.
Our country and our democracy have changed since then!

To remain relevant, we are once again seeking your input on program topics of interest to you. Your input will guide the choice of programs for the remainder of 2025. Please use the following link to complete the survey.

Interests Skills & Talents
One of the strengths of LWVGT is that it has a place for many different talents, skills and abilities. Everyone has something they can contribute to help us in our our mission to strengthen democracy.
As we begin a new program year, it's a great time to consider how you would like to participate and what
talents and skills you can share.
