The League of Women Voters’ position that all citizens have a right to equal treatment under the law and the criminal justice system faces a daunting reality. The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson (LWVGT) is examining the exploding financial costs and profound, multi-generational social cost of recently enacted Arizona laws that have led to mass incarceration, increasingly of nonviolent offenders, those with mental illness and the poor.
