Farewell to Kate Stewart

Kate Stewart has accepted a tenured position at University of Kansas as the Curator of the Wilcox Political Collection at the Spencer Research Library. She will be leaving Tucson by June 28.

A big THANK YOU to Kate who since 2018 has been a very active member of LWVGT.  She began as the Chair of our 100th LWV Anniversary that included many video panels providing history of the League in Tucson and members' experiences throughout USA.  Kate was our President from 2021-2022.  Most recently she was Membership Chair coordinating our conversion to the Member Portal and providing many social activities.

We wish Kate well as she moves forward.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES COMMITTEE

The Environmental Issues committee seeks to educate League members about environmental topics, focusing especially on concerns and action issues relevant to the greater Tucson area.  Our monthly meetings are a combination of presentations from invited speakers, discussions among members, and book discussions on environmental topics, with an occasional field trip.  Recent topics we have considered include water management, solid waste, local land use challenges and climate change.

All are invited to participate.  We are members who:
  • Are concerned
  • Are willing to engage personally with environmental topics
  • Are willing to suggest new ideas and collaborate in planning meetings
  • Are willing to help plan outreach activities that are related to environmental issues
