We appreciate the support of the LWVGT Members who open and read TWGT nearly every week.  Our open rate of 70% far exceeds the norm.

Yes, we realize that members receive an excessive number of emails from LWVAZ.  Unfortunately, if you opt out of receiving emails from LWVAZ, you will also opt out of receiving any communication from LWVGT. This means that you will not receive emails from LWVGT, including "The Voter" and "This Week in Greater Tucson."

EXECUTIVE ORDER 14248

Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a revising policy alert/guidance of section 9 in this executive order.

This provides that only state and local election officials are permitted to provide voter registration services at the conclusion of an administrative naturalization ceremony. Nongovernmental entities are not permitted to provide voter registration services at USCIS facilities during naturalization ceremonies.

You may have received an email from LWVUS regarding this policy. There is anticipation that a challenge to this order is in the works. I have been in contact with the Pima County Recorder’s Office, and they are reviewing the order.

For the moment, we are suspending our volunteer work at the Naturalization Ceremonies.

Our League is pursuing alternative methods of providing voter registration to our new citizens. We will keep our League members apprised of the situation as it develops.

Thank you for your concern and patience. Please contact your representatives about this policy.
