The LWVAZ has shared the following message regarding security protocols for local league chapters:

Out of an abundance of caution and based on feedback from Advocacy Chairs and partner organizations monitoring the situation surrounding the violence of September 10—including the increasing calls for violence against organizations such as ours—I am asking all local Leagues to take the following actions immediately.

This is not intended to create fear or panic, but rather to ensure we are taking proactive steps to safeguard our members, leaders, and organizational assets in line with best practices and current security protocols.

The following protocols are being implemented immediately for the LWVGT:

Social Media: we are monitoring all of our social media accounts. If you see anything questionable, please forward a screenshot to presidentlwvtucson@gmail.com. Please be sure to secure your own social media accounts by setting them to private.

Website: we have taken the precaution of removing names and contact information for all league members from our public website. Members may still log in and access the member directory online. Please be sure to ask permission from members before sharing their contact info with anyone.

Office Procedures: we request that the LWVGT office door be kept locked at all times. Please only admit members that you know or are expecting in the office.  We are purchasing and installing a video doorbell to make it easier to see who is at the door. We will be alerting building management to monitor the property for strangers who may be trying to access offices.

For those who volunteer in the office, we are asking that sensitive documents be secured in the file cabinets. Please do not keep LWVGT related documents at your homes.

There are additional measures being evaluated and  implemented for online data security by the leadership team.

These simple protocols should create a more secure environment for the LWVGT and our members. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out: presidentlwvtucson@gmail.com

Thanks all-

Betsy
