Hello DEI Committee-
I was informed on Friday March 13th that DEI co-chairs Pat Tapke and
Pam Burris were resigning their positions effective immediately. I
have thanked them for their efforts and invite you all to reach out to
them directly to share your best wishes, I am sure they would
appreciate it.
I very much appreciate this committee’s work and commitment to DEI in
fostering an inclusive and accessible League, and in promoting the
LWVGT throughout our diverse community.
As you may already know, the LWVGT Board has voted to have the DEI
committee housed with Membership. This seems like a good fit that
allows DEI to continue to do the good work that you do, to be part of
onboarding our new members, and to ensure all members have an
understanding of DEI as it relates to our work and our community
engagement.
My term is drawing to a close, but I want to support this committee in
finding new leadership and provide an opportunity to discuss plans and
focus for the coming year. The next DEI meeting is on Wed. April 8th
from 6-7 pm and while I will be unable to attend due to a work
commitment, Taylor Miranda, Membership Chair and DEI member, has
offered to facilitate this discussion, if helpful.
