IN MEMORIUM

Elizabeth_Zegura

Elizabeth Chesney Zegura was born on September 7, 1949 and died 76 years later on February 10, 2026. She was a child of the gentle South from Tennessee. After her career in academics, she retired from the Department of French and Italian at the University of Arizona as an associate professor emerita. She shared her remarkable talents with many groups, including the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson. Elizabeth was gentle and compassionate with a core of steel that you seldom noticed. We miss her.

A memorial service will be held  Friday, March 27, 2 PM, at St. Michael’s & All Angels Episcopal Church, 602 N Wilmot Rd.

Domestic Violence Firearms Tactical Assistance Program

Come to the City Council meeting and/or the Board of Supervisors meeting.  Show your support for DVFTAP by joining the Community Violence Prevention team to continue funding of DVFTAP (Domestic Violence Firearms Tactical Assistance Program) to remove weapons from homes where domestic violence occurs and to support those survivors. This takes place during the Call to the Audience early on, before the City Commission or County Supervisors move to the business portion.

You don't need to speak, just be a presence.

However, if you want to speak, do it as an individual, not as a representative of the League.
That is our President's job or her designee's.
Please wear purple if you've got that in your wardrobe.
