League Positions

Positions are developed by the League of Women Voters at the local, state and national levels after careful study of issues and policies deemed important and in the public interest.

Positions are central to the League’s mission of informing the public and improving government. They serve as a vehicle for the League to provide its viewpoint to elected officials, the media and the public on key issues. The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson (LWVGT) Advocacy Committee takes action on issues according to our national, state and local positions.

National Positions - League of Women Voters U.S. (LWVUS)

Every two years, delegates from local Leagues gather at the national convention to vote on continuing current national positions and adopting any new ones. After the convention, LWVUS publishes LWV US Impact on Issues 2024-2026 , which includes all national positions.

State Positions - League of Women Voters of Arizona (LWVAZ)

Every two years at the LWVAZ convention, delegates vote to adopt new positions after a two-year study or by adopting another state League's position by concurrence.  LWVAZ Public Policy Position 2023-2025
