Pima County Board of Supervisors Approve
$2.6 million in Affordable Housing Gap Funding

All Supervisors were present for the meeting.

The Board of Supervisors approved:
● The recommendations from the Pima County Regional Affordable Housing Commission to award $2,625,000.00 in affordable housing gap funding for the 2 highest scoring proposals, providing for 203 affordable housing units to households at or below 80% of the area median income.   They are:

Southwest Nonprofit Housing Corporation – Rio Mercado – 107 affordable rental units, new construction.

Family Housing Resources – Talavera Apartments, rehab and preservation of 96 affordable Housing units

● Funding for African American Museum of Southern Arizona

● The update of Court Workgroups Findings and Recommendations by Judge Bergin.  This included a request to continue with the current Intergovernmental Agreement and working groups until June 30, 2024. The 3 workgroups were appointed in early 2023 and have been meeting 2 times a month to study:

▪ Release Conditions Matric and Decision
▪ Electronic Monitoring, Pretrial Defendants
▪ Data Collection

Other Meeting Highlights

Call to the Public:

15 individuals spoke in the meeting during the Call to the Public on a variety of topics, including immigration, elections, the dangers of Highway I-19, the impact of COVID and others.
Two people made inappropriate comments and had were asked to stop speaking by Chair Grijalva.
