LWVGT's Annual Workshop to Empower High School Girls

KVOA's
report on the event.
Running and Winning is a workshop for high school girls - to change their attitudes about politics and perhaps about themselves.
This year fifty high school girls met with eighteen elected officials and candidates, who talked to them about why they've run for public office and what it is like to organize a political campaign. These mentors encouraged them through personal examples to see that this is an ambition they can hold too. The students then work in teams to create a mock campaign.
This year marks the 19th time that the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson has provided this day long workshop. This year the League worked with the American Association of University Women and the YMCA.
