Bills Affecting Polling Places Raise Concerns

LWVGT President Victor Bowleg describes how two bills now under consideration at the Arizona legislature could made voting harder.

House Bill 2547 would prohibit the Board of Supervisors of a county from authorizing the use of voting centers.   It also repeals the statute allowing the County Recorder to establish on-site early voting locations.  Similarly,  SB 1286  would remove the authority of county Boards of Supervisors to use voting centers in place of specifically designated polling places.
